Hello globetrotters! I recently returned to the USA from Oman after spending a few days in the Maldives for summer holidays. I was blessed to enjoy a review stay at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma in the Maldives. Check out my detailed hotel review below.
Location and Access
Situated in the South Malé Atoll, the resort is only a 45 minute short speedboat ride from Velana International Airport. It offers convenient access without requiring an additional seaplane flight. The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives offers a good value option for travelers looking to experience the Maldives without breaking the bank.
Accommodations
Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives offfers various types of villas, including garden-view, beach, and overwater options. I thoroughly enjoyed my overwater villa which was spacious with a large bedroom area, living room, outdoor tub, and a private deck for lounging. The roooms are comfortable with a beach-themed design. The family-friendly resort is a gerat option for those with kids since children under 13 years, sharing their parent’s room, stay and eat free.
Amenities and Activities
The hotel offers amazing snorkeling opportunities in the resort’s lagoon. Certified divers also get to enjoy two complimentary scuba dives per day when staying for a minimum of 3 paying nights. Surfing is also available at the “surfer’s corner.” Additionally, there is a large pool area that’s usually lively playing music during the day and various dining options with both a la carte and buffet choices by night. Guests can also enjoy a fully-equipped fitness center and spa. You most certainly won’t get bored with the numerous activities offered, including swimming with sea turtles, nurse sharks, or dolphin watching on a sunset cruise.
Value and Overall Experience
I must say that Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives is a good value for money, especially when using IHG Rewards points. You can definitely enjoy a luxurious experience in the Maldives on a family-friendly budget. It is a great option for those looking for a more affordable Maldives experience. It consistently offered good food quality and variety at it’s buffet located in the Kandooma Cafe and fine dining at the Kitchen restaurant. I was quite happy with the quality of service. Furthermore, the resort is a solid choice for travelers who want to stretch their points or budget for a longer stay in the Maldives, offering a balance of comfort, activities, and value.
