Greetings globetrotters and Happy International Women’s Month! March has been flying by quickly and as the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun. This past weekend I was honored to attend an incredible event in Muscat, Oman hosted by the Serenity Clinic. It is one of the first mental health wellness clinics in the country and my dear friend Thuba was one of the phenomenal speakers, touching upon Women in War. I met incredible women from around the globe at this event and it made me think about all the incredible women travel bloggers and influencers who constantly inspire me to trot the globe. Check out this list of travel influencers that if you aren’t following yet, you should!
- Oneika Raymond
Oneika Raymond, i.e. Oneika the Traveller has been trotting the globe as a travel blogger and content creator for years now. She is a friend in my head for sure. One of these days we are bound to meet somewhere around the globe. She is a top media personality, journalist, and host of two Travel Channel web series: “Big City, Little Budget”, and “One Bag and You’re Out”. She too started out as an educator abroad in Hong Kong, one of my dream expat destinations for the future and has inspired me greatly to get into travel blogging. With over 100 countries under her belt, Oneika the Traveller is a force to be reckoned with in the travel sphere.
2. Gloria Atanmo
Glo of The Blog Abroad is an incredible woman making her mark in the travel game! I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Gloria at a TBEX event a few years ago in Thailand and from that time on, I knew she’d gain global recognition. Never being one afraid to speak her voice and tell her truth, Gloria has gone on to inspire people to travel the world with her witty humor, incredible photographs and through partnerships such as being a brand ambassador with GoPro.
3. Roni The Travel Guru
Roni of Roni The Travel Guru is not only a travel blogger but a travel professional with over 20 years of experience in the travel field working for a prominent airline. She has lived overseas as well as an expat. She is a published author with her book “How To Travel To Paris Like a Rock Star, Even On An indie Band Budget” being available on Amazon. Roni has rightfully earned her title of being a Travel Guru.
4. Lola Akinmade Akerstrom
Lola of Lola Akinmade is an award-winning travel writer and photographer who has been published in National Geographic Travel and a host of renowned publications such as MSNBC, Slate, Yahoo, New York Daily News, Chicago Sun-Times, Huffington Post, and Time Warner. She is also the author of Due North (which was reviewed on iluv2globetrot) and Lagom: Swedish Secret of Living Well.
5. Jen Ruiz
Jen Ruiz of Jen on a Jet Plane is as kickass of a traveler as there is. She is a lawyer turned full-time travel blogger and author. She set out to take 12 trips in 12 months while employed full-time before her 30th birthday. Not only did she accomplish her goal but she completed 20 trips in 12 months! Her mission is to help young professionals see the world for less and experience more. She has published a host of guides to help people find remote work opportunities and books with tips for those bucket list destinations that you are waiting to check off of your list. Additionally, she also recently did her first Ted Talk. Go Jen on a Jet Plane, go!
6. Tomiko Harvey
Tomiko of Passports & Grub is a Tennessee based Digital Marketer and Content Creator. She is a mother, a traveler, a wife, and an all-around awesome woman! I met Tomiko this past summer as we both were speakers at the TBEX Czech Republic travel conference. Her spirit and light are infectious. While her passion is obviously traveling, she decided to marry two of her passions food and travel to create awesome content over at Passports & Grub.
7. Tyra Hughley – Smith
One of my other sisters in travel is Tyra Hughley-Smith, lawyer, and creator of BarrisTourista – Travel & Foodie Magazine. Tyra has worked for a number of newspapers, newsmagazines, and popular magazines, including People Magazine. She too decided to marry two of her passions travel and food in order to create amazing content through writing and photography. I had the pleasure of meeting her as well at TBEX and seeing her incredible talk, which she did with Tomiko.
I’m so inspired by so many incredible women in this travel blogging & writing field. Who else would you add to the list globetrotters? Whose blogs/vlogs are you reading nowadays? Feel free to comment below. As always, happy globetrotting!
