A glimpse of Bochum, Germany

By Nicole Brewer

Greetings globe-trotters! So I’ve managed to finish up my first official week of classes in Bochum, Germany today.  It’s been great to have another orientation week to get accumulated into my new city for the next year.  After a stirring lecture on an introduction to academic writing and studying skills, some of the students from my graduate programs’ cohort went on a nice little trek down through the University’s botanical gardens, through wooded paths and around the lake.

It was a nice introduction to the city via my program coordinator and an excellent way to wind down the last couple of busy weeks we’ve had finishing up the Intensive Program week in Poland, getting student visa’s situated etc. This week as many of you know Oktoberfest starts in Germany. We managed to bypass a group having their own celebration in the park with a woman donning traditional gear (no pics sadly I didn’t want to be rude ;-).  Take a peek at the below gallery nevertheless from our beautiful outing.  Enjoy globe-trotters!
