Cape Point, South Africa with Baz Bus tours

By Nicole Brewer

Last weekend I managed to have such a fabulous time heading to Cape Point, the most south western point of all of Africa. I learned through a fellow globe-trotter about the option to travel throughout South Africa with Baz Bus tours, which was the most cost effective option I could find, at a little over 500 Rand for a full day tour, including transport, entry into all of the parks/Boulders Beach penguin reserve and a nice lunch at the park.

We first started off at Hout Bay, after picking up other backpackers from their hostels. We took a 30 minute or so boat ride out, on brisk waters where surfers had a field day with some amazing waves going about after the rainy morning start. The tour guide mentioned to me that you can expect a few different seasons in one day as I contemplated trying to reschedule in the office at the start of the day. Nevertheless, I was happy I stayed on board as I met some great people on this tour!

After hout bay we trotted through to Simon’s town and Boulders beach to feast our eyes upon the cute African penguins! After Boulders beach we hopped back on the Baz bus to head to Cape Point National park.  One of the cool things about their tours is that you can ride one of the bicycles that they cart along behind the bus through the park! At first, I wasn’t sure if I were up to it but am So glad I did. I rode the bicycle down to the tip of Africa after lunch, all while baboons and ostriches were within arms length of us.  I met other globe-trotters from Japan, throughout Europe and Afria on the tour. I highly recommend Baz bus as their tour guides are highly informative and fun as well. Take a peek at the gallery below GTs. Enjoy and as always happy globe-trotting!
