Celebration time in Oman: End of classes

By Nicole Brewer

Greetings globe-trot fam! So today marks the last day of teaching at the College I work for here in Oman.  I’m Super excited that it’s coming to an end but also a tad bit sad as I’ll be moving on to my next ventures in the near future and leaving such a group of wonderful students.  Yesterday my lovely General English class students threw a party for myself and their Academic Skills teacher. Somehow word got out that I won’t be returning to the college next year and several of my students inquired in the days leading up to the party.  I’m going to miss the general kindness of the students as well as my coworkers.

They presented me with a gorgeous cake and played games to commemorate their growth in English skills over the course of the term.  Even though our classes are segregated (boys on one side and girls on the other) it was nice to see them be able to exchange in the way that they do at times through joint discussion and class games/activities.

One student even invited us to his camel farm to partake in a little camel riding if we were up for the challenge lol. Another performed the most beautiful traditional Arabic chant as well.  I’ve really enjoyed my time overall here in the Middle East and am grateful to see how far my students have come.  Please take a look at the gallery below as well as a Beautiful chant that was performed by a Bedouin student of mine. Enjoy!
