Fairy Tale BDay: Neuschwanstein Disney Castle, Bavaria Germany

By Nicole Brewer

The days are winding down for the month of June. Even though Gemini season has officially closed, I’d be remiss to not share more with the Globe-Trotters about my fabulous birthday trek to Bavaria, just 2 hours outside of Munich to a city called Fussen to lay eyes upon not one but two historic castles on my birthday!  The Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the top tourist destinations in all of Germany, as it is The Castle that has inspired Walt Disney in some of his famous animations of fairy tales and even the Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle of Sleeping Beauty!

It was such a treat to be able to partake upon visiting such a glorious destination with my girls on their ladies trip to Germany to visit me and a fellow globe-trotting expat.  The Castle was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who was also known as the “Fairytale King” according to the Neuschwanstein Castle site.  As someone who has such an interest in architecture and design, as it was my desire to be one growing up as a child in Detroit, I’m forever grateful to have had the opportunity to lay eyes on such historic destinations as the fairy tale Castle. Take a peek GTs at the gallery below showcasing both the Fairy Tale Castle and it’s sister castle Hohenschwangau! Enjoy ;-).

We’ve heard so much about this castle. But we’ve never seen so many photos of it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it was So beautiful and serene. Sadly though,I don’t think my allergies would allow me to live in Bavaria lol. The train ride there was a little bad for me, but totally worth the sneezing, etc ;-).
