Greetings globetrotters and Happy May! I hope everyone is enjoying the start to a beautiful spring and for the GT moms I hope you had a Happy Mother’s Day! This month I am happy to bring to you a GT interview with our very own Adrienne Lewis, fellow admin to the iluv2globetrot travel community and awesome globetrotting rock star. I met Adrienne at an Atlanta GT meet-up brunch and let’s just say that she knows how to have fun. When she’s not trotting the globe, Adrienne is hard at work creating awesome graphic design work or you may see her around town transporting people as a Lyft and Uber driver! Adrienne knows how to make those coins to stay trotting the globe! Check out her interview below GTs and enjoy! As always, happy globetrotting.
Can you tell the I Luv 2 Globe Trot community a little about yourself (where are you from, what do you do, where are you currently based, hobbies etc).
I’m originally from Nashville, TN..lived in the DC area for 14 years and moved to Atlanta in 2014.
How many countries have you traveled to?
I’m on country 39 (And I turn 39 this year)
What is your dream destination and why? (think bucket list destinations).
Mt. Everest. I want to hike up to Advanced Base Camp for my 40th birthday. I think it’s the most amazing and mysterious places in the world. I know many people summit every year but it’s just somewhere I want to see with my own eyes.
What are some challenges you have faced trotting the globe?
Sometimes it’s lonely…rarely but sometimes. I always speak to other minorities because I think it’s important that we recognize and encourage each other to keep going. I’ve found some countries to be not so friendly to me but I try to ignore it and enjoy the country for what it is.
Where was your most recent travel destination you trotted to?
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil…it’s a cool place but not one of my favorite places.
Which, if any, foreign languages do you speak?
Korean (horribly, but I can pronounce hangul), Spanish (enough to stumble through but I can read better than speak).
What do you have planned for yourself next? (any projects you’d like to promote, etc).
Get back to Southeast Asia as quick as possible.
Would you ever consider the expat lifestyle to assist with your globe-trotting?
I sure would. I would like to live in Malaysia..not sure if it will happen but I’d go in a heartbeat.
What are some words of wisdom you would like to give to future inspiring globe-trotters and expats?
Save up, find work you love and that allows you to work and have flexibility and follow your dreams.
