Greetings globetrotters! I hope that you’ve been well and are having a Happy New Year! I had the luxury of enjoying the first weekend of 2024 completing a stay at the tranquil Dusit D2 Naseem Resort on Jabal Akhdar mountain.
The Location
It is situated right in my backyard atop of the green mountain at an elevation of 2,000 meters. It features sweeping views and cooler temperatures than where I live down below in Nizwa. The journey to reach the Dusit D2 Jabal Akhdar may be winding, but the picturesque drive sets the stage for the serene retreat that awaits atop the Jabal Akhdar plateau.
Please note that it is mandatory to reach the top of Jabal Akhdar using a 4×4 truck. If you do not have access or feel comfortable driving the winding roads, then there are car services available at the foot of the mountain to take you up or Dusit D2 can arrange this pick up for you with their car service.
The Design Features
The hotel’s architecture is a perfect blend of contemporary elegance and traditional Omani influences. The lobby, adorned with local artifacts and warm earthy tones, exudes a sense of tranquility. The design complements the surrounding natural beauty and the lobby even featured a thousand year old tree bark. As an expat it was nice to see the Christmas tree still up in the lobby too past the new year.
The Rooms
The spacious and well-appointed rooms offer a great transition from the outdoors to the indoors, with large windows providing stunning views. Additionally, modern amenities, plush furnishings, and subtle Omani accents create a perfect balance of comfort and authenticity. The private balconies are a highlight, offering a tranquil spot to savor the crisp mountain air. I enjoyed having coffee and eating cookies on the balony watching a glorious sunset in the horizon. Also, the bed was extremely cozy and the room was well-heated.
Fine-Dining
Dining at the Dusit D2 Jabal Akhdar resort is a culinary journey that showcases the best of Omani and international flavors. The menus at both Veranda and Sky View Restaurant are thoughtfully curated, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The outdoor dining option with mountain vistas enhances the overall dining experience. Furthermore, a special treat was being offered freshly made traditional Omani bread at breakfast. The staff really thought of everything.
The Facilites and Actvities
The Dusit D2 Naseem Jabal Akhdar Resort offers a range of facilities to enhance the guest experience. The infinity pool, spa, and, fitness center provide opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation. Additionally, the hotel’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its eco-friendly initiatives, contributing to a responsible and eco-conscious stay. I was able to unwind with a relaxing massage at Namm Spa, which featured Thai massage services by Thai masseuse. The resort even offers thai massage classes.
For those seeking adventure, the hotel organizes guided hikes and cultural experiences, allowing guests to explore the stunning surroundings. The on-site activities cater to various interests, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable stay. In addition, a bonus for families is the captivating Adventure Park where little ones from the age of 7 and up can enjoy.
In conclusion, the Dusit D2 Naseem Resort Jabal Akhdar is a true oasis in the mountains, offering a perfect blend of luxury, nature, and Omani hospitality. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a culture seeker, or simply in need of a peaceful retreat, this hotel is a top-tier choice that exceeds expectations. My stay here was nothing short of amazing and comes highly recommended.
