Greetings globetrotters! Summer is officially over and most of us are back to the daily grind of our day jobs. The summer of 2022 was one for the record books between enjoying time with family in Detroit, heading to New Orleans for Essence Festival and the official book launch of An ABC Guide to Children’s Games Around the Globe. The summer was also a fabulous one because we were able to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the iluv2globetrot travel site and community in Belize! That’s right, Renee and myself were able to reunite since before the covid pandemic began and she was stuck in Australia and I in Oman for over a year.
We had a complete ball in Belize with a fellow globetrotter from the iluv2globetrot travel community that was able to met us for the joyous occasion. We started off our trip by venturing to San Ignacio and enjoyed a stay at San Ignacio Resort Hotel which is situated near the rainforest and a great spot to stay to explore Mayan temples at Xunantunich. It is also home to on-site tours such as the Green Iguana Conservation Project and a medicinal tea tasting ceremony.
After leaving San Ignacio we headed to beautiful San Pedro to enjoy luxurious accommodations at Coco Beach Resort. We knew it had to be good if Olympian Simone Biles stayed there and yes it did not disappoint. The service was top notch, it offered good eats and a relaxing pool to lounge by. It was awesome to meet up with fellow globetrotters for drinks while they were in town one night also. San Pedro is a great location to enjoy water sport activities such as snorkeling, diving, or if you just want to be a beach bum while in Amberis Caye.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Belize. To top it off we met ex. Bad Boy now acclaimed Belizean politician Shyne at the airport on our way out from the country. It really doesn’t get much better than that! Have you been to Belize globetrotters? If not, is it on your list of destinations to trot to? Until next time GTs!
