The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind to say the least. I’ve gone from finishing up my research term in Cape Town to returning back to Oman and starting anew at my old college was once working for before returning to graduate school. It’s amazing how everything always works itself out in the end. My last day trip that I was able to partake upon was to Hermanus, South Africa which is around two hours outside of Cape Town.
I signed up at the Tourism Office to venture on the whale watching and wine tasting day tour. To my dismay, the particular tour that I wanted to do that was stopping at a vineyard only had 1 person ie me sign up so the tour operator placed me on another tour that did not include this in the package. Nevertheless, after a little finagling, I convinced the driver to take me to a vineyard while some others did a boat trip (which was an extra fee) ;-).
Hermanus is a delightfully gorgeous place that I enjoyed greatly. It was so soothing to take in the gorgeous sea views and the whales! One can totally see the whales even if you stay shoreside, but I’m sure can get an even closer upfront view if you do one of the boat rides too of course. You can’t go to the shores and not enjoy some fish and chips (with a glass of wine too yum). I can highly recommend to the globe-trotters to check out Hermanus if you have a spare day in the Western Cape. Check out the pics below GTs. Enjoy!
Watching those gentle giants, who wouldn’t want to see them swimming lazily on the sea? Those photos are great. I enjoyed them!
Glad you enjoyed them!
I have truly enjoyed your South Africa posts! I hope to get there next year!
Thanks! Yes South Africa was Amazing. I miss it already but on to the Next. Readjusting to being in Oman.
Oh and I’m glad you got to see some whales! I went on a nauseating boat ride to do whale watching once in Monterey and barely caught the glimpse of 1!
